ITA Homing Season è il nuovo album del cantautore e musicista siciliano Claudio Cataldi, uscito ufficialmente su Som Non-Label il 23 Settembre.

L’album è stato registrato ai  D6280 home studio fra il 2012 e il 2013. Il Mastering è di Keith Prater, che si è occupato anche del mix di Song of Hate, September Air, Self Esteem e Take Care. Il disco vede la presenza del violoncello di Aldo Ammirata in “Song of Hate” e “Take Care“; e inoltre delle tastiere di Federico Ghersi in “Nowadays“. Il testo di “Cal” è ispirato a “Middlesex” di Jeffrey Eugenides. 

Ecco cosa dice l’artista a proposito dell’album: “Laddove Sleepy River si nutre del contatto e della spinta verso la natura, Homing Season si nutre del distacco dalla stessa, di atmosfere cittadine, di una re-immersione nella società. Analogamente, ho cercato di utilizzare forme più dirette, ed anche i testi sono più immediati. È frutto di un anno abbastanza particolare, e le sue dieci tracce sono state scelte tra circa venti registrate. Tranne “A Magic For You” – più vecchia – tutti i brani sono stati composti nello stesso periodo, nell’autunno-inverno 2011-2012. Musicalmente, la matrice folk è stata contaminata da ripetuti ascolti di dream pop e shoegaze – rispecchiavano il paesaggio sonoro da viaggio cittadino che avevo in mente. Non si è naturalmente trattato di un piano prestabilito, bensì di qualcosa venuto fuori con il progredire del lavoro. L’intenzione era quella di realizzare un lavoro compiuto, che non lasciasse la sensazione che restasse qualcosa di non detto”.

ENG Homing Season is the new album by italian singer-songwriter and musician Claudio Cataldi, officially released on Som Non-Label on September 23rd. The album was recorded at D6280 home studio between 2012 and 2013. Mastering is by Keith Prater, who has also worked on the mix of Song of Hate, September Air, Self Esteem and Take Care. The album features the cellist Aldo Ammirata in “Song of Hate” and “Take Care” and also the keyboards of Federico Ghersi in “Nowadays“.  ”Cal” lyric  is inspired by “Middlesex” by Jeffrey Eugenides.

A few words about the album by Claudio Cataldi: “While Sleepy River was about the contact and the drive towards nature, Homing Season is fueled by the separation from nature, the atmosphere of the city, coming back into society. Similarly, I tried to use more direct forms; also the lyrics are more immediate. This album is the result of a rough year; ten tracks were chosen among about twenty recorded. Except “A Magic For You“, all the songs were composed in the same period (Autumn-Winter 2011-2012). Musically, the folk background was corrupted by repeated listenings of dream pop and shoegaze: they reflected the citizen travel soundscape I had in my mind. There wasn’t a plan about this: something came up while the work was proceeding. My intention was to create a complete work, which does not leave the feeling that something remained unspoken”.
